The Nebraska Banker’s Association has recently released the names of 16 candidates hand-selected to join the NBA’s 2024 Leadership Program.
Cornelius Ray, Vice President of the First National Bank of Gordon, has been chosen to join the prestigious program.
For the next two years, Ray will study leadership techniques in banking. He will be required to attend all Nebraska Bankers Conventions and take part in group learning sessions while networking with other bankers also hand-selected for the program. He will learn how to respond to local and national issues impacting the banking industry, paving the way for positive change in our rural community.
At the end of the program, Ray and the rest of group will visit Washington DC to discuss the needs and concerns of the banking industry and rural economies.
“Living and working in Gordon has been a great opportunity for me and my family. After living away and then moving back, I see clearly the advantages of living in this great community. I feel humbled that the community has welcomed me with such open arms and am happy to be a part of it,” stated Ray.
Ray began his banking career as an intern in 2008. He started working full time in 2010. He moved to California in 2017 and returned to Gordon in 2020.He is happy to live here with his wife, Tatyana, and two children, son, Eric and daughter, Astrid.
Ray is very involved in all areas of banking at the First National Bank of Gordon. He is primarily involved in loan underwriting. He also reviews investments and leases. Most recently, he led a team of co-workers to help borrowers apply for and receive PPP funding through the SBA.
The First National Bank of Gordon is a family-owned bank, owned and operated by the Isham Family since 1963. The bank currently has 40 employees, all committed to the success of the Gordon community and surrounding areas. By providing financial services to the area, the Bank hopes to help community members thrive, resulting in longevity to the area.
